This is a common question that can be extremely confusing to find information from especially from the insurance providers themselves. This blog is here to help you better understand insurance coverage when it comes to drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and what to expect in your out of pocket expenses.

The first thing you should realize when trying to figure out if your drug treatment program is covered is whether or not the actual facility works with insurance companies. Many treatment centers bill for insurance and are cash pay only. If you are specifically looking for information regarding your insurance coverage for drug rehab then you need to have the actual treatment center get your insurance information and they will find out the exact coverage.

Remember don’t discouraged if it looks like your insurance for alcohol treatment does not look good. There are rehabilitation programs that can assist you in finding some sort of coverage or financing as well. Most of the drug rehab programs available have staff that are allocated to solely bill insurance and figure out ways for families to afford to pay for their treatment center. We certainly understand how frustrating it can be in this desperate time of need which is why we have written this blog. We hope this information regarding financing for drug rehab, and insurance for addiction treatment programs can help you find the right program.

Florida Drug Rehab For Prescription Drug Addiction

The drug problem in the state of Florida is on the rise, especially with prescription drugs. Some of these prescription painkillers are being shipped from countries like Canada and Mexico as well.

If you or someone you know is abusing these prescription drugs in Florida then a common question is what should I do? Amy Winehouse’s drug and alcohol abuse and addiction were featured regularly in the news since 2007. She sang a song about people trying to make her to go drug rehab and she said no. It was no secret that she and her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil struggled with addiction. Through the course of their combined addictions they faced legal trouble and he ended up in prison.

It is tragic that Amy had booked herself in a drug rehab center in London. She had planned to go for 2 weeks and was scheduled to check into the drug rehab on July 18th. She did not show up and instead, per reports, went on a bender that included vodka, crack cocaine and heroin. On July 23rd she was found dead in her home. It is suspected the cause of death is overdose, but it has not yet been determined.

Her death comes less than months ago she was released from a drug rehab program. Heroin addiction is very hard to beat and takes not only a drug rehab program that is long term but also the kind of program that suits the needs of the addict. Aftercare is also an important step. If the person leaving drug rehab goes right back to the type of environment where people are doing drugs and alcohol or condoning drugs and alcohol it will be very hard to stay sober. When someone goes in and out of rehab similar to Amy Winehouse, they usually still associating with the wrong kind of people.

Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison and now Amy Winehouse all died at the age of 27 of drug overdoses. Kurt Cobain also committed suicide at the age of 27 shortly after leaving a drug rehab.

It is also reported that they plan on turning her home into the Amy Winehouse Foundation Headquarters. Giving help to other addicts that struggle with drug addiction.

If you or someone you know needs substance abuse rehab and struggles with addiction it is important to get them into treatment right away. There can be disastrous consequences if you delay treatment. Amy Winehouse is one example of too many where checking into drug rehab was delayed.

My Daughter Overcame Addiction

My daughter arrived to her first rehab a scared 22 year-old girl. She had been convinced by us to go into treatment and she really wasn’t convinced that it was the right thing to do. She didn’t feel that she had hit rock bottom but after a failed suicide attempt and a serious addiction to pain killers and heroin she really didn’t know how to make it on her own. Her heroin addiction was so bad that she began shooting it in her ankles and neck.

During the course of her drug and alcohol treatment she had ups and downs. Things about herself and her life that she didn’t want to face and had even talked herself into believing they never happened. But she faced them and she dealt with her issues and her problems.

After going through and completing a full long term residential treatment program she felt empowered. There were definite points where she wanted to leave and didn’t want to do it anymore, but with the help of her friends and her family she persevered. Upon completion of the program she knew that she could handle any of life’s problems and would never resort to drugs or alcohol again. She was proud of herself and she was ready to face the world.

3 years later I am proud to call Emily my daughter. She is clean and sober and happy and most importantly I have my daughter back.

Cocaine Addiction and Treatment

Cocaine is one of the most widely abused stimulants in our country, creating an overwhelming need for effective cocaine treatment to individuals that choose to seek help. While it is a drug that does not have all of the typical physical withdrawal symptoms that many others like heroin and meth tend to have, the psychologically addictive properties make cocaine addiction a far reaching problem that many cannot deal with on their own.

If you suspect that a loved one is using and possibly addicted to cocaine, here are some of the usual things one can look for:

• Infinite amounts of high energy
• Behaving in a restless, fidgety manner
• Insomnia
• Appetite loss and/or unexplained weight loss
• Constantly runny nose or incessant sniffling
• Substantial changes in demeanor, mood swings

Cocaine use many times starts as a social ice-breaker, but can lead to habitual solitary use to help cope with life problems, lack of energy or depression. Even if use is occasional, there is no safeguard against overdose and there is certainly no guarantee that a night of fun will end badly with an arrest and legal issues.

The most important step one can take when there is a problem, or even if you suspect cocaine abuse, is to get help. Our counselors are standing by day and night to provide you with the answers, advice and guidance you need in order to make an informed decision about the best way to address these critical issues and move forward with cocaine treatment. Drug addiction is a serious problem that is not just a phase and almost never resolves on its own. If you are using cocaine at all – even just at the occasional party, you should seek help. If you believe a loved one is in trouble, take action now, tomorrow could be too late!

What Type of Drug Rehab?

My family tried literally every type of drug treatment out there for my brother; strange alternative methods, religious programs, 12 Step, rapid opiate detox (which I strongly urge you to stay away from), replacement drug therapy, etc., etc. The list goes on forever. We had almost given up all hope. He was abusing the medications the counselors had prescribed him at the short-term rehab center, and his dependency had worsened intensely. We could not figure out what type of drug rehab would be successful. One day I was researching online and read that it was important to look for drug treatment centers that have high success rates and are long-term inpatient programs. I kept searching. We found a facility that was far enough away from home that he could make a fresh start (but close enough for us to visit), and he stayed for 5 months of a long term drug rehab. They worked on an individualized treatment program including a physical detox and health program and life skills courses. He overcame his heroin addiction and we feel blessed to have found such a program that has given him not only sobriety, but also the skills and tools he needs to be drug free, happy and successful. Many people its drugs and many people its alcohol. Where most people fail in finding the right type of program is going to a broad drug rehab that treats both drug addiction and alcoholism. Lets say you are a person struggling from alcohol abuse. Clearly your problems are going to be different than a person struggling with heroin addiction. Well based on this, don’t you think it would be smarter to find treatment for alcoholism rather than a rehab that deals with both alcohol and drugs.

Obviously finding the right type of alcohol rehab is essential. Just because an alcohol treatment center only works with alcoholics does it make it effective. There are several other factors which make rehab work. The length of stay, hours of daily counseling, detox, and quality of cliental. A lot of people think that the other clients don’t make a difference in the chances of their being a successful recovery. This is not true. If you have a bunch of bad apples then the program will suffer, so locating a facility which is nicer and more of a family setting, then the rehab will provide a more effective program.

Our counselors can help you find the most effective alcohol rehabilitation program. We are waiting to help you in taking your first step towards recovery.

Intervention and Drug Rehabilitation

Locating Drug rehabilitation centers can be hard to find, also depending on which state you are looking in. Every state offers treatment for drug and alcohol addiction, but this does not mean the program is effective. An effective drug rehabilitation program should provide professional help to those suffering from addiction, something even the most well balanced families cannot do, if they could, treatment would not be necessary. Many families try scaring their kids or using the old phrase, “just say no.” This is not effective. You have to be honest with your kids when you educate them about alcohol and drugs. Just because you teach your kids the truth about drugs and alcohol does not mean they wont become an alcoholic or addict later on in life.

If your loved on ends up becoming addicted, then you must take the next step in finding the best drug rehabilitation available. When a person needs help, waiting can really hurt the addicted individual. They can overdose or even get arrested which then makes it very hard to get a person into rehab. If a person does not want help than sometimes doing a drug intervention is effective.

Regardless of what you try and do, don’t think that one day a person is going to cure themselves, or help themselves. Addiction is really tricky. Its not like anything normal. You must treat the situation as a life or death situation. Too many people never get better and then never have a good life. Addiction can be overcome with the right type of drug rehab. If the person does not want help then seek an intervention and get a professional in there to help.

Celebrity Detox and Drug Rehabs

Why do we see celebrities going in and out (and then back into) rehab and detox? Granted, the tabloid magazines and newspapers certainly capitalize on drama and tragedy, and many of what is published is untrue. Regardless of this, there are certain indications of drug and alcohol abuse which cannot be ignored. And the ongoing “revolving door” of celebrity detox and rehab makes the treatment scene seem bleak and ineffective. If a celebrity, who has access to limitless funds and “the best” treatment options, cannot make it through their substance abuse—what hope is there for the average citizen struggling to break free of his addiction?

A simple analysis of celebrity drug treatment and detox centers will reveal the enticing and luxurious aspects of the various facilities available to such clientele. But when did Continental Breakfast and rock climbing ever solve an addiction?

To avoid this, in your search for effective drug detox rehab look for a program that will get to the underlying issues of the dependency. Programs that address the physical, mental and emotional aspects of addiction hold the highest success rate. The other drug treatment method to avoid is the popular “medical model” approach. This, simply put, is replacement drug therapy at its best. Replacing the abuse of one illicit substance for a manageable pill. This type of therapy doesn’t solve anything, and in many cases will make things worse.

Non 12 Step Biophysical Drug Rehab

What is a non-12 step drug rehab and what exactly do they do in the program? A non-12 step rehab is an alternative to the traditional 12 step programs. In most non-12 step rehabs, the treatment that is offered is holistic care and more of a common sense approach to addiction. One of the reasons why a non-12 treatment is so effective is that they offer what is called biophysical drug rehab. A biophysical drug rehab is a process that rids the body of drug and alcohol metabolites that store in the tissues of the body. The biophysical treatment uses a cleansing process to remove these harmful toxins from the body. Once a person has completed this cleanse, they than feel clean, healthy and ready to take on life.

The other step to a non-12 step rehab is the fact that it is long term. A long-term rehab is such an important step in treatment. Most people who enter traditional programs are only there for 30 days. In this type of treatment, a person enters into a long-term drug rehab and stays there for around 3-6 months. During that time period, they not only figure out why they are using drugs but also learn how to do with life without drugs. They are taught coping skills, and job skills so that when they go back into the real world they are equip with tools to handle life.

Oxycontin Detox and Opiate Addiction

When it comes to alcohol and drug treatment, what is the most effective center and how do I go about enrolling into a detox? But it is not just the teens that are part of this problem. Even young adults to seniors can also be addicted to narcotics, marijuana, and other illegal drugs. But there are also no age limits when it comes to those who are willing to get away from drugs. Various drug rehab centers are accepting those who wanted to be cured from this addiction.

Other than the sessions with the psychiatrists and other rehabilitation programs, patients can also try to have a drug rehab at the same time. This is to ensure that the body will be free from the toxins that came from drugs after the therapy. Their body will be clean once again, thanks to the detoxification process.

The patient has a lot of steps to go through so that the drug rehab will become effective. They must be willing to withdraw or discontinue the use of the drug even if it may be very difficult especially for long time users.

With the help of these drug rehab centers the patient will have an easier way to deal with all the withdrawal symptoms. The severity of these drug rehab programs are based on how long and how grave is the drug addiction. There is also a wide array of techniques to choose from depending on which is more comfortable for the patient as well.

One of the newest forms of treatment is called a wilderness drug rehab. In a wilderness drug rehab, a patient learns gets all the counseling and treatment but also learns about nature. He will appreciate life more and learn to be more responsible.

Inpatient Drug Treatment and Detox

When a person is trying to find inpatient drug rehabs or alcohol treatment center they should find a longer termed program. Most people who are looking for a drug treatment program should make sure they need detox, counseling and life skills therapy. We do not recommend replacement drug therapy. Replacement drugs take the drug of choice of the person is already addicted to and substitute for a prescription drug like an anti-depressant.

Many addicted people only want to go into a treatment program that is only 21,28 or 30 days. We recommend trying to get into a rehab facility that is longer. A 4-6 month inpatient drug rehab will offer a very high success rate and provide a successful recovery. Most of the rehabs that offer long term care should also provide some sort of aftercare program.

Inpatient drug treatment is a very good idea for a person who suffers from drug or alcohol addiction. Residential treatment for drug addiction is essential to cleaning up our society and improving the economy and health of our people. Also people who need a prescription detox should also look at finding a rehab program after the detox is complete.

Oxycontin Detox And Drug Treatment

Drug and alcohol rehabs in California can be confusing to find online. The reason is there are so many programs and its tough to decide which one is the best. Many people searching who are addicted to an opiate like oxycontin, not only need rehab but also detox. Finding an oxycontin detox is an important step to a successful recovery. One of the biggest fears is that a person who is coming off of oxycontin is the withdraw symptoms, so ensuring that they experience a gentle tapering process is essential.

Once a person has been detoxed now finding the right type of drug treatment program is essential. Some people look for an outpatient center once a person has been detoxified. This is a mistake because though detox is important, it still does not address the reasons a person first starting taking drugs or alcohol. These issues can only be addressed effectively through individualized counseling. We do not recommend psychiatric counseling, rather, we encourage people to find counseling that provides more of a cognitive, and life skills approach. Life skills therapy teaches a person how to handled life problems and gives them the tools to make good decisions.

Remember if you or a loved one is having trouble with opiate addiction like oxycontin, finding a good detox and drug treatment center is important.

Drug Rehabilitation and Educational Programs

Aside from the drug rehabilitation aspect of things, a very important part of addressing the drug epidemic in our society is taking a well-rounded and effective approach with kids and young adults. Gaining drug-free allies in our youth will prevent the number of addicts in our communities from growing to an even larger and formidable number than already exists. Giving kids the truth about drugs--not "scaring" them away from drugs or giving exaggerated lies--but just the simple truth, statistics and information about what drugs do to a person physically and mentally has proven to be extremely effective.

Education is the way to overcome the drug addiction problem that our society faces today. Yes we need rehab and detox but we must educate our youth about the dangers of drugs. We can win the war on drugs, and the foundation of our success begins with drug prevention and education. If someone does get on drugs than finding an addiction treatment center is the right thing to do. Finding the drug rehab centers is something that can help you out.

Effective Drug Treatment

What makes an effective drug treatment program and what should you look for when selecting this type of rehab? The first thing that you should do when picking out a drug addiction treatment center is make sure that it provides a medical detox. The most important factor in rehabilitating a person from drug and alcohol addiction is making sure that if they need a medical detox than the rehab does provide this. Certain drugs likes Benzo’s, alcohol, and prescription drugs, especially psychiatric drugs require some sort of medical detox.

The next important factor for a treatment center is that it provides long term care. A long term drug rehab provides the highest success rate for a person and keeps them away from home. Friends and family sometimes take part in a person’s addiction problem so isolating the addicted individual from this is helpful. In most long term treatment centers, the patient will be provided individualized counseling. One on one counseling is the best form of therapy because it allows for the patient to open up about his or her problems. Many people are scared to really discuss their problems in a group setting which is why 12 step rehabs are not effective.

Last but not least is finding a holistic drug treatment center. Traditional programs which only offer 12 steps usually prescribe drugs to “treat” the addiction problem. This is very dangerous because what you are doing is replacing one drug for the other. The most effective non 12 step rehab is one which uses holistic means and vitamins and minerals to build the body back up.

Drug Rehabilitation Centers

Trying to find a drug rehab center can be a very difficult thing to do, especially making sure that it has a high success rate. There are so many different types of rehabs out there that trying to find the right center can be hard. As a family the first thing that you should do is look for a long term, inpatient drug rehab that offers detox, counseling, and life skills therapy.

Trying an outpatient program because the addicted individual does not want help or only agrees to do a local program is not a deal that should be made. The reason is an outpatient or local drug rehab does not help with separating a person from friends and family who have contributed to the addiction by providing the drugs or the money to buy them.

Addiction can be overcome with the right drug and alcohol rehab program. A residential or inpatient drug rehab will provide the most successful program. A long-term program is even better. Remember, don’t get frustrated because the person with the addiction problem doesn’t want help or is not excited about treatment. Just get the person into a California drug rehab program and let them get the cause of why the person is doing drugs or alcohol.

Holistic and Long Term Treatment Programs

I tend to prescribe to the idea of long term and holistic treatment more than these short 3 or 4 week programs which offer continued medication use as a cure. Anything which has to be continued in order for its result to remain stable is not a cure, but a crutch. A "CURE" means it's fixed, done, handled. The addiction is there no more. And so, with a holistic approach it would seem that the facets of an addiction are taken up piece by piece--from the brain and the liver to the heart and the soul. If a person spends their whole life, and I mean years, making mistakes which eventually land him/her in drug rehab treatment, who are we kidding ourselves that it will all be cured within 28-30 days? It may be very sturdily crutched, but "cure" is a much more requisite term.

A non 12 step drug rehab should provide lots of information regarding alternative forms of treatment. Many of the non 12 step rehabs are located in California and Florida. A Florida drug rehab is very important for people addicted to drugs in the southeast area of the country.

Texas Drug Rehabilitation

My son attended a University in Texas. His first year he got involved
in selling drugs. It started with his ADD prescription, then he
got a hold of a guy who had access to large amounts of marijuana and
ecstasy and cocaine that my son purchased with the profits from
selling adderal and began a lucrative business selling drugs.

His first semester’s grade point average was .01. We became
concerned. He was making so much money selling drugs, and he began
using the drugs that he was selling.

We first started on the internet looking for a Texas drug rehab.
It became clear to us that there are many avenues to take in solving
drug addiction. There are holistic drug rehab centers, non 12 step,
inpatient drug rehab programs that will take an overall view of the
patient and identify the reasons they are faced with addiction issues.
And they will help. It has been proven over and over, that people
can be cured of their addictions.

Several of the professionals that will help you were once users
themselves and have been clean for several years and ultimately turned
their lives around. These professionals will help answer the
questions that you have about drug rehabilitation, its effectiveness, which
programs are right for you.

Painkiller Addiction Drug Rehab

I had to have reconstructive plastic surgery on my face after a car
accident. Up to that point I felt as if I had the substances that I
had been using under control. I would like to call myself a weekend
warrior. Friday and Saturday night at the bar. Maybe a joint here
and there, drinks, nothing that I felt was too much of a concern.

Then there came this reconstructive surgery. I was prescribed one
hundred percoset for the pain. I went through that prescription in a
little over a week. I was hooked. I did everything that I could to
get more of the prescription from my doctor. I began drinking more, I
was smoking more marijuana.

I had to take leave from my job because of the surgery, and when it
was time to go back to work, I was not effective at my job. I was
constantly high on painkillers or pot or both.

My boss sat me down and said that he noticed my production had not
been what it was before the surgery.

He gave me some advice, do some research about drug intervention, and
drug rehabilitation. He gave me the chance to get my life back on
track. I found that it was easy to find a inpatient drug rehab
and one that I could relate to. Its not what you think it may be,
padded walls, nurses and doctors and patients wearing all white.

There are thousands of people just like me, addicted, and there are
thousands of people out there to help. Along with some coke, drinking heavily, using painkillers when I could get them, and smoking a huge amount of marijuana. All of my friends were doing this, or so it seemed to me. I was able to keep a job for about two years doing this, then I fell, and I fell hard. My family had to do a drug intervention on me to get to rehab.

I was high on a coctail of ecstasy, cocaine and whiskey and was doing ninety five down I-66. I crashed into the back of a tractor trailer and almost killed myself. The courts sent me to mandatory alcohol and drug abuse classes, which reminded me of one of those 12 step programs.

My girlfriend at the time left me, and I lost my job, I hit rock bottom. I had to do something to kick these habits. A friend of mine told me about some holistic drug programs, some have inpatient drug rehab facilities, and some offer drug rehab centers that you would be surprised to find out are close to where you live.

I never thought a drug rehabilitation program would work for me. But I can honestly say that I have been drug and alcohol free now for over 6 years and I own and operate several flower shops today. The program allowed me to determine the reasons I chose to use drugs which made it easier for me to stop using.

Alternative Rehab To The 12 Steps

Trying to find the right type of drug rehabilitation can be a very hard thing to do. There are so many types of treatment centers, figuring out which one is most effective is very important in a successful recovery. A California drug rehab is very important for people who live on the west coast and who need a drug rehab. Several of the facilities in California offer a long term rehab and a high success rate.

In the Midwest people who are looking for a drug rehab can go to a facility in Oklahoma. Drug rehab centers that offer a non 12 step approach usually have a high success rate as well. When a drug rehab center addresses all three components of addiction, the physical cravings, underlying issues, and life problems it increases the statistics of the program.

A non 12 step drug rehab is the most effective type of drug rehab. Traditional treatment programs are a thing of the past. The 12 steps do not offer long term solutions of recovery and promote that addiction is a disease. All drug rehabs should also offer a medical detox incase a person is coming off of alcohol, opiates or prescription drugs.

Is Drug Rehabilitation Necessary?

What makes a make drug rehabilitation program so effective and what type of facility should you be looking for? These are common questions for most people who either have a drug problem themselves or may have a loved one suffering from alcohol or drug addiction. Today we are going to discuss the different types of treatment programs and what program will fit certain individual needs and wants.

The first thing to look at regarding a drug rehab is whether or not they are inpatient or outpatient. This is an important part because most people don’t have a chance of successful recovery in an outpatient setting. This is one of the most important parts of rehabilitation is getting a person away from their present time environment and into a therapeutic setting. Remember an inpatient drug rehabilitation program is very important for a person who has a drug or alcohol problem.

The next important aspect of a drug rehab program is making sure they do not believe in replacement drug therapy. Most drug addiction treatment centers that believe addiction is an incurable disease will diagnose a person some “mental illness” and then prescribe very dangerous and addictive drugs. Many of these drugs have horrible side effects and the biggest problem with these types of rehabilitation programs is they never get to the underlying issues; rather they mask the problem with more drugs.

Prescription Drugs and Long Term Treatment

How many people have to die before we, as a society, will do something about the pharmecetical and psychiatric industry. Sources say Michael Jackson was going to several different psychiatrists who were also prescribing deadly anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, benzodizapens, and painkillers. Just in the last few years we have lost some really amazing people. Well, I guess a couple of them would be considered people that think outside of the box, but to me these guys were amazing artists and just very creative.

Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Jackson, and Heath Ledger are just a few. What many people think is that this is just some type of celebrity, guess what, its not! As a mater of fact, prescription drug addiction, especially psychiatric drugs, are the number one problem for drug rehablitation programs nationwide.

The good news is that now we are seeing a steadly increase in long term drug rehab programs. A long term drug rehab is very important in order to get these victimized people who are taken advantage of from these covert, money hungry, legal drug dealers which are called psychiatrists. I tell people that if a drug rehab has a psychiatrist on staff, run! All they do is "treat" people with more addictive drugs which has no place in a DRUG REHAB.

California Biophysical Drug Rehabs

What does a biophysical drug rehab and what makes it so effective? Many people wonder why a biophysical rehab has such a higher success rate and in this blog we will show you what makes it so effective. The first thing that makes this alternative type of treatment modality different than traditional treatment is it breaks the addiction down into three different components. The first is the physical, second mental and emotional, and third is life and coping skills.

The interesting thing about biophysical programs is that most are located in California. A California drug rehab is the best state which offer very effective drug rehabilitation. Most people think that an alternative facility does not offer any type of medical detox or medical care, this is not true. A good certified program offers not only a detox but 24 hour medical and nursing.

Unfortunately most programs that are biophysical do not bill insurance but there are some that do. The ones that do you should definitely take advantage of this because these are by far the best drug rehabs and because they are alternative it is rare that medical insurance would cover. Remember a California biophysical drug rehab is one of the best programs in the country.

Successful Drug Rehab Programs

More and more drug rehabs are opening throughout the world. Each and every one of these rehabilitation facilities have a marketing department which promotes on the internet to help get their message out of how they offer the best type of drug rehabilitation available. Today what we are going to cover is what to look for in an effective drug rehab and what type of programs to stay away from.

One of the first things you should look for is an inpatient drug rehab. Any program that offers outpatient care should be ignored because they offer little or no success. An addicted individual must enroll into a residential or inpatient program which will remove him or her from their present time environment. This is important in recovery because a person needs to be isolated from friends who could try to persuade the person to use drugs or alcohol again.

Second is finding a long term program at least 60 days or more. This is a good amount of time for all aspects of addiction to be addressed which include the physical, mental and emotional components. The optimum situation would be a program that offers a 4-6 month stay.

Finally you want to make sure that the drug rehab program offers a holistic treatment modality. Holistic drug rehabs do not believe in replacement drugs. Instead their philosophy is to get person off of everything and then address the underlying issues.

Non 12 Step Rehabs

Alternative drug rehabs have become overwhelmingly popular over the years with their high success rates for people never returning back to drugs and alcohol after rehab. One of the most effective type of treatment program available is a non 12 step rehab. Non 12 step rehabs not only provide individualized counseling but intensive life skills therapy and a biophysical treatment. Not to mention, most of these alternative non 12 step programs are also longer termed. Many people who find themselves addicted to drugs and alcohol believe there is more to overcoming their addiction than just praying, in this case, a non 12 step drug rehab is the best option.

Many people who are seeking alternative treatment have tried traditional treatment in the past and not had any success. This would include 12 step programs which believe that addiction is an incurable disease, and that a person is powerless and control less. Not to mention, these traditional programs also believe that relapse is part of recovery process and most of the residential facilities are sort term ranging from 21 to 28 to 30 day stays.

Finding a non 12 step program is highly recommended and always more effective than traditional programs. Also try to find a long term program as well that offers a nice residential setting and holistic care.

Long Term Drug Rehab Programs

What type of drug rehabilitation program is the most effective is a common question that families ask who are trying to find a facility for their loved one. One of the types of treatment modalities that has a very high success rate is a long term drug rehab. Most long term drug rehabs really that offer not only a medical detox but also biophysical treatment, cognitive counseling and life skills therapy can usually guarantee their results. Trying to find a guarantee in this industry is hard to come by so any rehabilitation center that does you know has an effective program.

A long term drug rehab that offer biophysical treatment is a very good place to send your loved one. A biophysical drug rehab is something that offers vitamin and mineral therapy, light exercise, and then a person going in and out of a dry-heat sauna just like at a spa. This procedure helps remove drug metabolites from the adipose tissue which can cause cravings.

Once the body has been cleansed and all the drug and alcohol metabolites are gone, then counseling can actually stick. This is when good one on one counseling should be used, preferarbly cognitive. Cognitive behavioral therapy is excellent for people with an addiction problem because it retrains the thought process and brings about the ability to make better choices and decisions.

Then the long term program should offer life skills therapy which will teach the addicted individual how to live life drug free. This is vital for a successful recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

Connecticut Drug Rehab

Why is it that most of the drug rehab facilities in Connecticut only offer traditional type of treatment like the 12 step program? Its not that the 12 step program is bad but if you are looking at the sheer statistical side of things you will find that non-12 step drug rehabs are more effective. A Connecticut drug rehab is not always easy to find if you want a long term program or some type of holistic care. Most holistic drug rehabs having a higher success rate because the do not believe in replacing one addiction for another.

Generally a quality treatment program offers a full medical detox, cognitive counseling and life skills therapy. Many people when researching a program for the loved one make a mistake by asking for a dual-diagnosis program. This is just another type of marketing tool for the pharmaceutical industry to prescribe more psychotropic medications for a person who already has a problem with drugs. This only masks the problem more.

A drug rehab in Connecticut that offers a holistic based program is hard to find which means you might have to leave the state to find something effective and long term. Don’t get frustrated because changing a person’s environment is usually the first form of treatment and is always beneficial for the person trying to overcome his or her addiction to drugs or alcohol.

What Type Of Treatment Programs Works?

Drug and alcohol rehabilitation is not something that easy to find especially for centers in the northeast. A New York drug rehab is something that is searched a lot because of all the drug and alcohol addiction in the state. Most people want to stay in state but unfortunately most of the treatment centers are hospital facilities that only provide detox, or group meetings. If you are looking for an effective type of treatment program this is not a solution.

Over the last few years long term drug rehabs have become more and more effective. Changing a person’s environment and getting them into a drug rehab program that not only focuses on the physical and mental cravings but also gets to the underlying issues of why the addicted individual first started using drugs and alcohol as a solution to some type of problem. Whether the problems is low self-esteem, lack of confidence, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, failures in life, or financial stress these can all be triggers for a person to start abusing drugs and alcohol.

So remember that not all drug rehab programs are going to offer the right type of treatment for your loved one. You need to find the program that will offer the proper rehabilitation so that your loved one who is suffering from alcohol or drug addiction can be successful in his or her recovery.

Could Natural Enzymes Be An Effective Drug Treatment And Prevent Cocaine Overdose?

A recent drug treatment study released by Chang-Guo Zhan of the University of Kentucky suggests that natural enzymes may be a successful treatment for an overdose of cocaine. The few treatment methods currently available for overdoses do very little and may even result in death. If this enzyme treatment works as Zhan believes, it could save thousands of lives every year.

How The Body Naturally Treats Cocaine Overdose

This drug poses a significant threat to the user because even the smallest amounts can cause severe damage and even death. When someone takes a hit, it raises his or her blood pressure, restricts the amount of oxygen to the heart, and possibly complicate breathing. If your body is sensitive to these reactions or take too much, you overdose leading to seizures, breathing problems, and heart failure. This can occur regardless of how much or how often you take the drug.

Under normal conditions, these substances add water to the drug causing a series of chemical reactions. When the process is complete, only two completely innocent ingredients are left behind. The biggest downside is that it takes a minimum of 90 minutes for trace amount of the drug to be broke down.

With an overdose, the required time for the process can increase to 12 hours or more leading to a high rate of death and permanent injury. The enzyme method that Zahn is introducing into society merely speeds up a natural process.

New Cocaine Treatment Research

To determine how to modify the natural substance, the cocaine treatment experts identified the precise reaction that required the most energy and gave the cells a boost. In the end, they only modified 5 of the 574 amino acids found in the enzyme to create a new molecule. The new drug treatment works quickly enough to prevent any permanent damage to the body or its nervous system. In fact, they react and break down the drug 2000 times faster than normal.

To test this, researchers gave 18 mice a lethal dose of the drug and injected 12 of them with the new cocaine treatment. They found that all six of the subjects who did not receive the new drug treatment and two of those who did all died. The other 10 mice survived. If this treatment does become available to emergency rooms across the country, it will become the world's first overdose preventative.

Possible Risks Of This New Drug Treatment

The experts believe that because the modified version is so close to the original, there is a very low risk of severe side effect. However, this cocaine treatment does present a few concerns. It is believed this drug treatment would have to be administered within a short time of the overdose in order to be effective. Some experts also worry that these new super enzymes may breakdown other substances in the body that are needed for normal life processes.

What Does This Mean?

This new concept is only in the testing phase, but should things go well, this could offer a significant amount of help for addicts. The modified enzymes could play an important role in the rehabilitation of cocaine users. While it won't stop them from using, it is possible that it could help to speed up and lessen the effects of the dry-out phase. Researchers are hopeful that it will help save the lives of those who overdose.

Until this new cocaine treatment has been thoroughly tested and approved, there isn't much available in terms of help. It doesn't guarantee that the patient will survive either. When an overdose occurs today, lowering the victim's body temperature and heart rate is the only real drug treatment medical staff have forcing them to wait it out and hope. In the end, something will certainly be better than nothing.

Residential Drug Rehabs Reveal Five Tips For Staying Clean

Talk to anyone who has come out of residential drug rehabs, stopped smoking, or has gone through AA, and they will tell you that getting through the initial program is only half the battle. Once addicts have overcome their initial addiction and they return to their normal lifestyle many find themselves tempted back to their old ways. This common problem is not easy to overcome and it may likely never go away. Drug rehab experts say the five following tips can greatly reduce your risk of relapsing regardless of your addiction.

1. Learn A New Way To Battle Stress

Most addicts turn to their vice when they are faced with a stressful situation or difficult choice. After leaving residential drug rehabs or other method to overcome addiction, reducing stress is still important, but you need a different way of doing that. Some people go for a walk, some listen to music, and others knit. Whatever it is, make sure it is something that you enjoy doing so that you don't have to make yourself do it and add to an already stressful day. Some drug rehab experts say that carrying a rock or small item in your pocket is enough -- simply rub it or move it around with your fingers so that you are forced to think about something else.

2. Avoid Temptation

Most people use their drug at a certain time or in a certain place say drug rehab experts. For smokers, this is often with their first cup of coffee in the morning. For shopping addicts, this could be lunch hours spent at the mall. Identify when these danger times are for your and eliminate it from your life. Smokers can have juice in the morning after having a shower while the shopaholic can avoid malls completely.

3. Choose A Healthier Lifestyle

Residential drug rehabs say addicts often choose friends and lifestyles that surround their addictions. Their friends often share the same addiction making it difficult to resist the urges to relapse. It also helps if you make your addiction difficult to come back. Remove the substance or problem from the home and try not to carry cash. If you are a former smoker, toss the ashtrays and give away your lighters.

4. Remind Yourself Why You Quit

As time goes by, it can be difficult for the addict to remember why they sought help to begin with. Experts from many of the leading residential drug rehabs recommend that you do what you need to so that you don't forget. Put signs up in your bathroom with bullet points stating the benefits of overcoming your addiction. Most experts agree that having friends and loved ones help by taking time to remind you why you quit can have remarkable effects on the after-care of an addict.

5. Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself

Take time out on a regular basis to congratulate yourself on a job well done. Rejoicing in even the smallest steps is often all most former addicts need. This added boost to your motivation is enough to remind yourself why you started in the first place and gives you the encouragement to start new goals.

While nothing will guarantee that a relapse will not occur, drug rehab experts say these five methods can make a significant impact on the addict's chance of success. As a last little piece of advice, residential drug rehabs recommend that all former addicts should seek help immediately if they find their life starting back in the opposite direction.

What Is The Best Drug Rehab?

What is the best drug rehab and how do I know it’s the best. These are all common questions people ask about drug and alcohol addiction and rightfully so. When trying to find the best type of treatment program there are few things to consider. First a good program is always going to offer long term care. If you call a drug rehab facility and all they offer is 21, 28 or 30 days of treatment than you know at the point they do not offer any effective type of help for addiction. 21, 28 and 30 days programs were started because insurance companies would only pay for 21, 28 or 30 days of rehab.

An inpatient drug rehab is usually the best form of treatment because they can focus on the underlying issues. When a program incorporates replacement drug therapy this can become very dangerous and make the problem even worse. Holistic drug rehab programs usually have the highest success rate so make sure to find these.

Regardless of the drug rehabilitation program your loved one also has to be willing. This can sometimes take days or even years for the person to finally accept help. This process can be speed up if you hire a drug and alcohol intervention specialist. Most drug rehabs can help find a interventionist that will help aid in getting your loved one to go to treatment.

Addiction Resources

Alcohol and Drug Rehab Directory
National Directory of reputable and ethical alcohol and drug rehab centers.

More resources for people who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Here is some information about drug and alcohol addiction like prescription drugs that can help a person better understand what is going on.

Alcohol and Drug Treatment
Is alcohol and drug treatment becoming too costly? Unfortunately in today’s society we are exposed to many other addictions and sometimes we don’t even know its occurring. Tobacco, TV, video games, gambling, shopping, and eating can be addictions which cause a person much trouble in life. Though these situations can be tough to overcome one of the most dangerous, even worse then drug addiction and alcoholism is sex and porn. Sex and porn have wrecked families, turned innocent people into criminals, caused people to become drug addicts, caused people to commit suicide, and worst of all, has slowly desensitized our society into thinking that this is a part of normal life.

These two things are used by harmful individuals to destruct people and lower their ability to succeed in life. These destructive people created sex and porn to decrease a person’s alertness, power, and ability to create. If you look at prostitutes, pimps, porn directors, escorts, and dancers you will notice how they are usually very fake but appear to be your friend. Very covert and sneaky but at the end of the day you certainly would not trust them to take care of your kids. Why is that?? The reason is they want you to get fixated on these sexual and aberated things and once they do that they get you hooked. The more a person has to use porn or sex to feel good you have a problem.

Now I am certainly not saying that having sex with your wife, husband, boyfriend, or girlfriend is a bad thing. As a matter of fact, sex is a wonderful form of communication that you can express with that person that you love. What I am talking about is a person who is promiscuous or pays for sex in order to “get off.” This is very dangerous and leads to worse things. We need to take a look as a whole and not allow our kids to get involved with this degraded form of entertainment which can be found all over the internet. We also need to help those people that have found themselves addicted to sex and porn and get them to fix this problem so that they can live a happy life.

Educating People On Addiction

A person suffering from drug addiction or alcoholism can feel hopeless and sometimes trapped. Addicted individuals don't know where to turn or who to trust. Family, friends, co-workers are not always the easiest person to tell about an addiction problem. Fear of letting family member down, loosing the trust of friends and getting fired from work are all common thoughts. Our addiction blog is here to help you understand and give you a confidential location to write, post comments, or ask questions about drugs, alcohol, and addiction.

Before finding a drug rehab program learning about addiction and learning about yourself is very helpful. Before making a decision always learn about what you are going to be doing. There are so many drug rehabs out there and they will tell you how their program is the best. Sometimes they don't have the best intention for the addicted individual though there intention is still good which is to help. Please do not think that you should wait around for weeks or days when you think that the abuse of drugs or alcohol has gotten out of control. Getting into a treatment facility should happen pretty quickly.

Remember, learn about drug and alcohol addiction first. Then find some programs that sound like they might be able to help. Call these programs and get more details about the program and also request an information pack. Then make a decision and enroll into the drug rehab program.

Blog Directory

We have found that finding information on the internet is really helpful. Trying to sort through 12 step programs, detoxs, outpatient facilities, and long term drug rehabs can seem really overwhelming. Effective cocaine treatment and heroin treatment are good avenues for cocaine and heroin addiction because they specialize in these addictions.

Also people need to realize that not always do people want to go to drug rehab. In these types of situations drug interventions are necessary to get people in a treatment facility. Whether it is for drug or alcohol addiction hiring a professional intervention specialist teamed up with family who love and care for the addicted individual can really help the intervention be effective which will result in escorting the addicted the individual into a long term drug rehab.

The most successful drug rehab is one that offers long term care, natural detox like a sauna cleanse, life skills therapy and cognitive counseling.

New Health and Addiction Site.

here is a helpful link regarding health and addiction.
NcomN >

Alcohol Rehabilitation Program

Why is it so hard to find an alcohol rehab program. Everywhere on the internet you find drug rehabs but have a tough time finding a program that just specializes in alcohol addiction. Many people who are looking for a program that helps people who suffer from alcoholism give up and send a person into a drug rehab facility.

Our alcohol rehabilitation will help educate you on addiction especially alcoholism. Personally I think they should make a drug rehab program for celebrities where they have to share rooms with bunk beds or sleep on the floor. They are required to cook, clean, and then feed the homeless for at least a month. None of the celebrities would be allowed to watch TV, internet, cell phone or any for of communication to the real world.

These guys really need to understand what type of life they have and not take it for granted. I am certainly not saying that they aren't wonderful artists or are extremely talented but I do feel that they need to be humbled and appreciate what they have and look at giving back a little more. Not so much in a financial way, but more on setting a better example for people that look up to them. Instead of using drugs, and going in and out of drug rehab and gettting arrested, they need to try becoming more wholesome.

Unfortunately people like Will Smith, Tom Cruise, David Becham are given a hard time for stupid reasons. Tom Cruise gets attacked in the media way too much. Look at that guy, he has a nice family, takes care of his wife and kids, doesn't party, and the media makes him out to be some bad guy. Thats a joke.

Prescription Drugs Are Addictive Too

I was labeled ADHD as when I was 14 years old. I fit the diagnostic criteria for Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. I was full of life and energy. I was bored in school but usually found other ways to entertain myself throughout the days. One day my teacher phoned my parents and told them that these behaviors were symptoms of a mental disorder called ADHD and that if I wasn't properly treated for it, I wouldn't be allowed to stay in school.

Doing what they thought was best, my parents put me on the medication prescribed to me. It was soon after this that I became addicted to the drug and started abusing it. I figured out how to manipulate the mental health system to get what I wanted. Eventually I began selling this drug to my friends in school, but I soon grew bored of the prescription and turned to marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, ecstasy and alcohol. I entered long-term rehab at the age of 22 after overdosing, nearly reaching death, twice. Once a bright and energetic young kid, I was now a fully dependent drug user. And it all started because I became addicted to my ADHD medication.

I wish I could say my story is a novel one and that nobody else has experienced this same pattern of events. Truthfully, millions of children and adults have been mislabeled with ADHD throughout the United States. And thousands of those diagnoses have resulted in a worsened condition or illicit substance abuse.

This is why it is important to seek alternative treatment for substance abuse. A prescription drug simply acts as a band-aid for the real underlying situations, and this is true no matter what age you are.

I completed a long-term, in-patient treatment program and re-established life skills that I had become dependent on both prescribed and illegal drug for.

Your prescription may be your problem. Look for a drug free, long-term treatment program.

Unknown Side Effects of Drugs

Unknown Side Effects of Drugs

Posted using ShareThis

Psychiatric Drugs and The Pharmaceutical Industry

Psychiatry an alliance of “mental illness advocates” announced the results of its international survey: Two thirds of people “with psychiatric disorders” often wait two to five years or more before seeking treatment. A medical detox is necessary for people coming off of alcohol, prescription drugs, and opiates.

Generally an effective drug addiction treatment program will provide detox, rehab, and aftercare. Most state funded drug rehabs or government programs are short term with a low success rate. A private drug rehab is usually more effective and have a higher success rate. This addiction treatment blog provides information for people to help make their decision easier.

Drug And Alcohol Prevention

Drug And Alcohol Prevention

Posted using ShareThis

Amazing Addiction Blog

I am so excited because I just finished reading some good information on this drug rehab blog. If a patient does not have appropriate communication and social skills, than he or she will not be able to develop a new network of friends that are a clean and sober group. Most government funded programs don’t offer this form of drug treatment. An effective long term drug rehab looks at not only getting a person off of drugs but also rehabilitating their life back. Many people addicted to alcohol and drugs have not had to rely on these types of social and communication skills. Most addicts and alcoholics have used money and alcohol or other drugs to create a social network. Sometimes being promiscuous sexually is a common trait with people who have an addiction problem which is used to make a person feel better about themselves.

When trying to find the most effective drug and alcohol rehabilitation program always ask the addiction counselor the type of treatment used. The different types of treatment setting are important to match with what an individual addicted to drugs and alcohol will do best in. Whether it’s a therapeutic community, or an inpatient and residential treatment center, a partial hospitalization and day treatment program, or intensive outpatient, finding which one will be most effective is vital. Also many addiction treatment centers will provide a specific program dependent on populations. For instance, some programs are tailored to a specific ethnic; some programs are more effective to the elderly, adolescents, patients with disabilities, women, gays and lesbians, criminal justice programs, and patients with co-occurring disorders. Regardless of the situation, research different options on residential drug rehabs.

Residential Drug Rehabs

When trying to find the right addiction treatment program always figure out what the individual with the drug or alcohol problem needs. Many facilities advertise that they address “drug and alcohol addiction” but really their specialty is drug addiction. Though usually it does not matter whether you are treating drug addiction or alcoholism, sometimes a person who has an alcohol problem is not able to relate with other people who have a drug problem. That is why when researching alcohol rehabilitation centers make sure that they specialize in alcohol addiction.

During this process you should know whether or not the alcoholic will require a medical detox. If they have delirium tremors or have shown signs of seizures when coming off of alcohol then you should definitely pick an alcohol rehab program that offers a medical detox. The detox process makes it easy for a person to come off of alcohol rather than “cold turkey it.” Most alcohol rehab facilities require a person to go through detox first before treatment starts.

Once a person is detoxed than counseling and therapy will be used to treat the underlying issues. This is very important because this is what will keep the person from returning to alcohol as a means to cope. This is where the person will learn life skills to better manage their life as a whole. Many alcohol programs offer an aftercare which can be very helpful as well.

Does Intervention Work?

Drug addicts and alcoholics are not always the most responsible people in the world. Nor are they the most trust worthy either. Families who have a loved one suffering from drug or alcohol addiction can get so frustrated because they try so hard to get the person to enter into a drug and alcohol rehablitation center and fail.

That is why an intervention is so important. Whether it is a drug intervention or an alcohol intervention, these are the first step to overcoming addiction. The reason is a trained intervention specialist knows how to educate the family on enabling an codependency and then organize a strategic game plan on how to confront the person refusing to get help with their addiction.

Once the family has been educated then the intervention occurs, usually the next day. The drug intervention is considered to be done once the person has agreed and is then escorted into a long term drug rehab.

Drug Addiction Treatment

Drug addiction treatment centers are finding new ways to cure addiction. The old philosphy of treating an addiction like a disease is stale and out dated. Not to mention there is absolutely no science that can back any type of theory like that up. A disease is something that will show up on a blood test like diabetes or cancer. Addiction is not a disease rather it's a choice. Please do not think that my philosphy is that an addiction is something easy to overcome. I too was an alcoholic and drug addict for years but learned how to live life drug-free and found ways to be more resposible and accountable for my condition in life.

Any type of drug rehab program, whether its an inpatient faclity, or long term drug rehab, always remember that you hold the power of overcoming anything in life.

Drug And Alcohol Rehablitation

Drug and alcohol rehabilitation can be very confusing to locate. There are so many websites on the internet that a person can get overwhelmed at which program is the best. Many times it is good idea to speak with family references that have sent their loved one to a drug rehab program that you are looking at. We recommend you do this before you send your son or daughter to a treatment facility. You may want to speak with one of the addiction counselors of the medical doctor on staff. Usually they can provide medical information on the program that an admissions counselor can’t.

Treatment programs very state to state. Whether you are looking for a Michigan drug rehab or a Georgia drug rehab, don’t rule out the possibility of sending someone out of state. Sometimes the most effective form of treatment is changing a person’s environment.

Does Outpatient Treatment Work?

A question that many families ask is does outpatient drug rehab really work? Statistically speaking you have about a 1-5% chance of being successful after completing some type of outpatient treatment. This is not a high rate of success for many reasons.

For cocaine treatment or heroin treatment to be effective one should change his or her environment. The reason is friends and family can actually cause a person to crave drugs and alcohol or even remind them of the wrong things they have done.

The other reason is they need to be in a controlled environment for at least 90 days before entering into real life situations. They must detox first than learn how to deal with life issues and learn coping skills before facing underlying or emotional problems.

The New Addiction Blog

Last week a new drug and alcohol addiction blog was released on the net. Many people have been waiting for this blog due to it's writers and information. Over the years people have posted information on the Internet regarding addiction but many are trying to sway people into their drug rehab facility. Most of these programs are very dangerous due to there prescribing of heavy psychiatric drugs which result in fatal side-effects.

Now the Alcohol Drug Treatment Blog is providing people with scientific data on addiction, rehabilitation, and intervention.

Private Drug Rehabs

Many people that call looking for treatment either need a state funded program or a private drug rehab. A state funded drug rehab usually offers outpatient, detox, and maybe a 30 day residential treatment program. All state funded programs offer the 12 step philosphy and usually prescribe medications or at least subscribe to the Dual-Diagnosis treatment. What this means is they believe that substituting one drug for another is effective.

The other type of treatment is a private drug rehab. A private drug rehab offers more long term care and more of an individualized program. Most insurance companies will reimburse families for a drug and alcohol rehablitation treatment center so then a family is responsible for only a part of the price. The most effective for of drug and alcohol rehab would be private pay.

Residential Drug Rehabs

Residential drug rehabs is a very effective form of treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. Most doctors and addiction counselors will recommend a residential facility rather than a program that only offers outpatient.

A hospital usually provides a medical detox and then some outpatient counseling but this is not enough when trying to get to the root of addiction. People do drugs and abuse alcohol for different reasons. Nobody is the same; therefore nobody has the same root problem. For treatment to be effective it must be inpatient. That is why residential drug rehabs is what leading medical doctors and nurses will promote.

Alcohol Drug Treatment

Alcohol and drug treatment is only effective when a person is willing to get help. When a person finally agrees to seek help you want to move quickly and enroll him into a treament facility. Alcohol treatment and drug treatment can sometimes be hard to find for families. Most parents see the signs of addiction but don't do anything about it. Whether its a lying, stealing, anger, not showing up at family functions, or hanging out with different people, these are all signs that something is going on.

What we recommend is to talk to your kid about whats going on but be educated about addiction and treatment. Have a solution first so that when they ask for help you're ready.

Whether it is cocaine treatment, heroin treatment, or detox, the rehab program should be long term and inpatient.

Drug Rehab Help

Over the last few days I have been on an intervention with a family in Tulsa Oklahoma. We have been trying to get their 17 year old son who was abusing Oxycontin intravenously. On Friday we had the family meeting where we discussed as a team how we would approach their son and talk to him about going into a drug rehab program.

Unfortunately the next day when we had planned on picking him up and doing the intervention, he found out what we were doing and had a friend pick him up and was gone for a full day. The family had almost given up but their prayers were answered when he showed up at the house he was staying at.

The next morning we showed up unannounced, woke him up and convinced him to grab breakfast with the family. When we arrived at his mother’s house the whole family was there. We talked about going into a drug rehab program to help his addiction to prescription drugs.
After an hour he was honest and shared how he had tried killing himself by overdosing on prescription drugs. He explained he was not happy where his life was and wanted more. He agreed to go and gave the greatest gift to his family on Mothers Day, the choice of life.

During our flight to the Michigan drug rehab, we sat with a group of young students who attended a Christian University. They were on their way to help people in Africa build houses and bridges and were so excited about helping and spreading the word of the bible. The young man addicted to Oxycontin who I was escorting to the drug rehab facility opened up and shared his story with these students. They were very positive and took his name down and promised to pray for him. It’s really amazing what can happen when you show love and compassion for one another, regardless of race, religion, or background.

There is something to say about a person who wants to help. If we truly care for one another and help out our fellow friends, we can make this world a better place.

Georgia Drug Rehab

People who need a Georgia drug rehab should only try to find a long term drug rehab. This Michigan drug rehab offers long term care, intensive counseling and life skills therapy. It is a drug free program and does not believe in substituting one drug for the other.

The first phase of this drug rehab in Michigan is a sauna detoxification. This form of detox removes drugs and alcohol out of the tissues of the body to eliminate cravings.

The second phase is getting to the underlying issues of the addiction. This is when cognitive counseling is delivered. Cognitive counseling allows for the individual to look at his life and take responsibility for his actions.

The third phase is life skills therapy. Life skills therapy teaches a person how to live life drug and alcohol free.

The Michigan drug rehab is 3-5 months and individualized based.

Ritalin Addiction

In America today we face a grave issue, the overuse of prescription drugs to combat attitude and emotional problems. America has become a drug society, and I am not speaking of common street drugs such as marijuana, heroin, or cocaine, I am speaking of prescription drugs, drugs that you can obtain from your local physician or psychiatrist. One drug in particular that is being sold on the black market, college campuses, high schools, and even middle schools, is a drug called Ritalin. The prescribing of the drug Ritalin to cure Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD, and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder or ADHD is a serious problem today I will inform you as to why Ritalin is not the solution to the problem.

In his sophomore year of high school my uncle was recommended to visit a psychiatrist. After a series of tests the psychiatrist diagnosed my uncle with ADD, and he prescribed the drug Ritalin as a medicine for this diagnosis. Within the next two months following the prescription my uncle became very addicted to Ritalin, he crushed and snorted it, and even dealt this drug to other kids at his school for two to five dollars a pill. Later, my uncle had a cocaine addiction, which is a common story for people who take Ritalin, because of the similar nature of the two drugs. In fact the Drug Enforcement Administration categorized all drugs, legal and illegal into five categories. The first category of drugs has the highest addictive capabilities and lowest medicinal use. Essentially, category one contains the hardest drugs. Category two is only a notch below one, and it contains drugs such as Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Methylphenidate, or Ritalin as it is more commonly known. Yes, both Cocaine and Ritalin have been classified Category II narcotics by the DEA, yet one is illegal and the other is given to young children by doctors and their parents.

From 1990 to 2000 over 569 children were hospitalized due to Ritalin prescription, 38 of them were life threatening conditions, and 186 died. The National Institute of Health has even stated that “[They] do not have an independent, valid test for ADHD, and there is no data to indicate that ADHD is due to brain malfunction,” which is what Ritalin treats. Dr. David Williams, who has researched ADD and ADHD has found that “ADD/ADHD is not a chemical imbalance in the brain, but rather is caused by food and additive allergies, heavy metal toxicity and other environmental toxins, low protein and high carbohydrate diets, mineral imbalances, thyroid disorders, amino acid deficiencies and other acid deficiencies.” Often times schools will recommend students to see psychiatrists, to fix their behavioral problem, these doctors in turn will then unnecessarily diagnose the students with either ADD or ADHD and prescribe them Ritalin, in order to give the student a quick fix solution to their behavior problem. According to a recent Washington Post article, an FDA advisory board recently voted to require a health warning on Ritalin. According to the article, “members of the board said the recommendation was driven as much by worries that the drugs are being overused in the United States as by the possible side effects: About 10 percent of 10-year-old American boys are taking such medications, and there have been recent sharp increases in the number of adults taking them.” It’s incredible to think that 1 out of every 10 ten-year-old boy in American is legally taken a category II narcotic.

Why do doctors and psychiatrists prescribe a highly addictive and poisonous drug that is ranked at the same level as Cocaine? Why do they want the quick fix drug that does not address the real issue of nutritional deficiency? Why don’t they instead work with their patients to improve their diet and put them on a strict vitamin and mineral regimen? Improving nutrition and diet is the non-narcotic solution to the ADD and ADHD problem, not the extremely dangerous Ritalin, which can cause death and is considered a gateway drug.

In closing, let me tell you about what finally happened to my uncle. Fortunately, he went through a successful drug rehab program and now lives a drug free life. He has often told me that he regrets ever being prescribed Ritalin, because it was the beginning of his major drug problem. He says that that many of the people who he met in the drug rehab facility and still meets today through his work as an intervention specialist have the same regrets. Ritalin was the beginning of a serious drug problem for them.

We as a society cannot allow the extremely dangerous quick fix solution of Ritalin for ADD/ADHD, but instead must work together to prevent doctors and psychiatrists from prescribing Ritalin as a cure for ADD/ADHD.

Intervention

Many families wonder whether or not to do an intervention. Sometimes people are worried its not going to work or are scared how the person is going to react. Our certified addiction counselors have found that being pro-active rather than reactive is the safest. The worst outcome is that at least you tried getting the person to agree to enter into a long term drug rehab.

Drug interventions should always provide a meeting with the family before the actual intervention. The reason for this is to educate the family on addiction, drug rehabilitation, and the intervention process.

The Importance For Effective Rehabilitation

As a mother of a twenty year old son who was leading the lifestyle of partying and abusing drugs I was concerned about the right treatment for him.

He was a son who was from a good family. An older sister and brother, loving grandparents and aunts and uncles. My concern was finding a facility with a high success rate.

Over the years I had read and seen young men and women determined to recover from abuse only to relapse. For me I did not want the psychology of "relapse is part of recovery". I wanted my healthy happy son back - just the way he was until he was exposed to a totally different lifestyle.

I found that very facility by going on the Internet. Drug rehab program had just the alternative and different method for recovery. Because of their method of restoring a persons self esteem and ethical behavior our son is the person he once was.

He is married to a beautiful person. Has a home of his own and leads a productive happy life.

No parent should have to go through the heartache of seeing a child become addicted to substance abuse. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Finding the right facility is the most important. I am so thankful I found that.
