Is Drug Rehabilitation Necessary?

What makes a make drug rehabilitation program so effective and what type of facility should you be looking for? These are common questions for most people who either have a drug problem themselves or may have a loved one suffering from alcohol or drug addiction. Today we are going to discuss the different types of treatment programs and what program will fit certain individual needs and wants.

The first thing to look at regarding a drug rehab is whether or not they are inpatient or outpatient. This is an important part because most people don’t have a chance of successful recovery in an outpatient setting. This is one of the most important parts of rehabilitation is getting a person away from their present time environment and into a therapeutic setting. Remember an inpatient drug rehabilitation program is very important for a person who has a drug or alcohol problem.

The next important aspect of a drug rehab program is making sure they do not believe in replacement drug therapy. Most drug addiction treatment centers that believe addiction is an incurable disease will diagnose a person some “mental illness” and then prescribe very dangerous and addictive drugs. Many of these drugs have horrible side effects and the biggest problem with these types of rehabilitation programs is they never get to the underlying issues; rather they mask the problem with more drugs.
